Trimmed Hair
Mood:  a-ok
Went to Atlanta to get my hair trimmed at a natural hair salon I found on the net. I also got a hot oil treatment and deep-conditioning. $55. Thank goodness I didn't get a style-which would have started at $80 (not using weave, mind you). I made a desicion that I am going to do this stuff myself-except for the trims-those seemed a bit hard, but I can find someone closer to home to trim my hair and not drive 2+ hours to Atlanta for that service.

So every three months I will do a deep-condition/hot oil treatment and get my hair trimmed-so that means this coming September I'll be getting my hair trimmed.

Until then I'll wear my hair in this style

and this style

I'm nervous about work this upcoming week-I'll have to rock my confidence, these people are paying me well-VERY well, in fact I was on the top of my class in terms of job offers-and they've seen my in natural hair styles before-cornrows and kinky (very kinky) twists, as well as short hair. So I don't think I'll get any repercussions about my hair, but I'm still nervous, since it is very short-but there are plenty of women there with short hair-so I don't know why I'm nervous-maybe corperate america and natural hair will unite lol!

Braids and Grad
Mood:  a-ok
Got braids, they're a bit long and I was too tired to cut them into a style last night, so I'll do that this morning, I'm thinking a layer cut-hihi, I'm going to try and cut my own layers can you believe that? going to keep these in for about two months.

Hair Photo
Mood:  lazy
Here's an updated hair photo-lightened it so you can see the hair better

Trying to figure out what to do with my hair for the next few months-this summer it will be in micros, but afterwards I'm thinking of rocking the cornroll style from the photo in the following schedule:
-Week One: cornroll front, twists in back
-Week Two: cornroll front, free in back
-Week Three: cornroll front, twists in back
-Week Four: freeform TWA/curls & trim
wash, rinse, repeat

That would save more money instead of micros since my mom (or numerous cousins) could cornroll the front for free-or nominal charge ($10)- and it would last three weeks, also allow my hair to be in a protective style-less manlipulation!, but still about to be free and not underneath some microbraids. Can monitor my hair and it's growth as well as the scab hair.

I think I'm almost scab hair free-there are only a few spots that seem to be still growing scab hair and they're at the nape of my neck, otherwise my hair is happy and curly-very curly. the curls are starting to stand up straight as if to say, look at me! the hair is at this weird state, the back is starting to fall, but the top is growing out, not down-creating this funky ridge of seperation in the middle of my head, not to mention on top of the fuzz and multiple curl diameters-I sweat those 2c buggers and 4a's are popping up in the midst of my head. I know that I have at least another year before my hair settles down and I will know what it looks like/how it behaves. So right now this is boot camp-for me and my hair-I'm trying to learn it and it's trying to learn itself. poor hair, i don't want my children to have relaxers.

Mood:  bright
Well, I told my mother about cutting my hair-just didn't tell her when ^_^

I needed that time to grow comfortable with my natural hair-without negative comments-surrounded by people who's opinions didn't matter so much...until I grew into my element.

Discovered that Jasika Nicole's hair isn't natural-she has a relaxer. Ah well, I still like it-regardless of how it got there :P

Found a Great Style and Love for Short Hair
Mood:  silly
Went to see Take the Lead and loved Jasika Nicole's hair from the film

Right now my hair resembles this

I think I'll just keep it braided for a while-until August-and keep trimming it until the scab hair is gone (I don't want to wait until I get a lot of length cause then I may not cut it, but if I don't wait until I get length how will I be sure that the front is scab hair and not just 4a curls with 3c mixed in?)

I wish I could just tie it up and then tomorrow all the scab hair would be gone and the tangled knotted ends that come with it. That my confused matted edges would be gone and resemble the curls that are scattered throughout the front and are plentiful in the top. That my curls were uniform and I could see them in the back, but alas, there is no such majic :P only patience. So I suppose braiding it up for a few months (May-Feb) would be ok and trimming it in bewteen.

Snip Scab Snip
Mood:  a-ok
Got my hair trimmed yesterday-the scab hair was forming knots and tangles on the ends-couldn't get all the scab hair cut since I'm getting braids in less than three weeks and I needed enough hair to braid, but I trimmed about half of the dreaded stuff.

wish it was longer so i can see how it behaves and such, but i must be patient-it's actually pretty long, but the shrinkage in the back is simply 'amazing'. those are coils-honestly-round little circles, nothing more-sure they expand under tension, but elsewhise thier just little circles of hair :P

Product Junkie and Scab Hair Blues
Mood:  energetic
Today I picked up a new product: Garnier Fructis Style Curl Construct Mousse. It was on sale-smells yummy. I put it on my dry hair-after I sprayed a bit of my water spritz and it holds my curls. My hair is really fine/thin, but it's held the clumps together. There is a mild sticky residue, but otherwise, I like it. Can't wait to try it on wet hair and see if it holds.

Have a few products-I like the nice smelling ones the best (my qhemet and garnier) will try and add essential oils to the other products so I can get nice smelling hair products, yummy!

Scab hair is making me blue-I get scissor happy when my hair is loose, I don't like the frizzy brittle scabby ends and I want to chop them off to expose the beautiful hair underneath. One problem, to successfully cut ALL scab hair and not look stupid I'd have to cut about an inch off-not a BAD thing, but in order to get my hair braided for graduation and prolong telling my mother about my BC I need a certain amount of hair. Also, still trying to see my natural texture-there is still scab hair and so I'm thinking of giving the scissors a break and the hair by wearing braids until September in which I'll be nappiatural for over a year (and be living on my own). Then chopping some more

Trying to find some short styles, my edges are more dense and tighter curl than the top so it looks like a ridge/wall of frizz-omigoodness, found a 2c hair in my head the other day-so shocked, i pulled it out :o

Growth Update: 3.5" (even though trying to combat scissor happiness)

i love my curls!

No More Braids
Mood:  happy
My braids are out! woohoo! I missed my curls! They've actually grown and the curls on the side are starting to fall, the curl pattern is starting to loosen in the front-it seems as if I've gotten over the scab hair period in most spots-the back and front are still a little stubborn, but I'm not trimming again until August. I'm going to wear my hair free and loose and then braid it back up a few days before graduation-using my usual braider!

It's practically freezing outside so I'm going to have to do a protective style today-perhaps a trusty scarf?

Tired of Braids
Mood:  chatty
Tired of my braids-or perhaps the braids are tired of me, they're coming out and the braiders are the hardest people to get in touch with so that they can finish it. I think I'll take them out either this Saturday-25th or next Saturday-1st, plus I want to see my curls again-I miss them :[

I absolutely LOVE curly hair-curly curly curls lalala...curly curly curls lalala...went to the musuem and they had all these busts of greek and roman people with curly hair-the girl i was with (she's a curly too, though her hair is mostly wavy) wondered out loud where was the frizz-we giggled about that and the difficulty of carving frizz into the busts :P It's nice to have a curly as a friend

Scabby Hair
Mood:  d'oh
I pulled a few strands from my head to type some of my hair and I noticed something odd. the strands from the nape of my neck were very hard-not to be rude, but it reminded my exactly of pubic hair, i had to remind myself that the hair came from my head-I wonder if this is this what scab hair looks like? I know a lot about scab hair, but haven't heard much about it on a micro level-ie, how do the individual strands look/feel.

my hair pattern is changing sizes. The ends of my hair in the back are a tight watch spring spiral but as you move towards the roots, the spiral gets larger. but just on those areas where there is scab hair, so maybe the scab hair is growing out-except the front it seems!

I'm at a dilemma as to what to do with the scab hair as it's so uneven, like the top of my hair is spiral curls, the edges are scab hair and some of the ends of my hair are scab hair. I could continue to cut it evenly scab hair or no scab hair, or just chill for six months with braids and then visit the topic again. ayiyoiyiy!
